CFRC South Discharge Meaning
A departure from South Unit is not one fixed event. The person may move to Main or East, transfer to another FDC institution, enter an authorized state placement, reach a scheduled FDC release, or complete the state custody episode. The current record must identify which path occurred. A building departure alone proves only that the person left that location.
Orange County Corrections and FDC maintain separate custody systems. If Orange County sent a sentenced person to FDC, the county record should show a transfer to state custody. Once FDC received the person, its DC number and offender history became the main public trail. The county live list cannot confirm a later CFRC South release.
A true completed release belongs in FDC's Inmate Release Information Search. When supervision follows, the community-supervision database may show an active status, dates, office, and supervision type. A different agency may also receive the person under a hold. Each result should be described at its own level.
Match CFRC South Discharge Records
The DC number should match across the population, release, and supervision result. Confirm the sentence county and incarceration dates as well, especially when a common name or more than one prison episode appears. This prevents an older FDC release from being assigned to the current South Unit stay.

The profile anchors the search to the proper agency. Its public details can change, so current contact information should come from the profile. The research places South on the CFRC Orlando campus but does not provide a separate verified street address or direct phone. Search CFRC South Discharges
FDC provides separate searches for current population, released inmates, community supervision, and absconders. Use the DC number whenever possible. It links results across these views and is less prone to confusion than a name. A name search should be checked against aliases, sentence county, case facts, and incarceration history.
- Open the FDC Offender Search menu and choose inmate population.
- Search the DC number. If it is unknown, use the name and available fields, then compare the detail carefully.
- Read current location and status. A different FDC institution points to a transfer, not community release.
- Choose Inmate Release Information Search for a completed or scheduled state release. Search the same DC number.
- Read whether the result displays Release Date or Current Release Date. Do not treat the scheduled label as a guaranteed event.
- Check community supervision when the record or sentence indicates post-prison supervision.
The release search is updated nightly. A movement may occur before the public detail reflects it. That lag calls for patience or direct agency confirmation, not a guess. If public fields remain incomplete, request the movement or discharge record from FDC.

Read CFRC South Status
The most useful result comes from comparing fields rather than relying on one word. Current location reveals placement. Release Date records a completed state event. Current Release Date is FDC's label for a future or scheduled date. Community-supervision status describes an obligation outside prison. A detainer or later agency record can show custody continued elsewhere.

Under Florida Statutes § 944.275, the gain-time projection is a tentative release date. FDC's screen uses Current Release Date. Gain-time awards and forfeiture, sentence corrections, court credit, added sentences, mandatory terms, and holds can change the date. When a scheduled date passes, switch from projection to the completed release search.
Request CFRC South Records
The FDC public-record route is the fallback for nonexempt records not displayed in Offender Search. Name the South Unit, DC number, person, narrow dates, and exact event. Ask for the movement record, destination, release or discharge document, and any public authority or code that explains the event.
A useful request avoids mixing county and state files. Orange County Corrections owns its booking and transfer record. FDC owns the state reception, placement, movement, and release record. The Orange County Clerk holds the public court order and sentence. A complete trace may need all three, but each custodian should receive only the document request it can answer.
FDC may redact confidential material under § 945.10. Medical, victim, security-sensitive, and other protected information is not made public merely because a release date is visible. Ask for the releasable portion of the targeted event.

Trace CFRC South Transfers
Start the movement trace with the last confirmed South Unit record. Look for the next FDC location on the population detail. If the record shows another institution, the state custody episode continues. If no current population result appears, search the release database by DC number. If that result also fails, check identifiers and ask FDC for the public movement history.
Reception-center labels can be mistaken for release programs. CFRC is a reception and classification complex. Historical references to other Orlando community-release sites should not be merged into the current South Unit record. Current FDC profiles control the facility identity, and the offender detail controls the person's status.

CFRC South After Discharge
FDC release and FDC discharge from supervision are not always the same milestone. A person can leave prison and begin probation, conditional release, parole for a limited eligible population, or another state supervision type. Search by DC number and read the exact type, status, begin date, termination date, and office. Do not call every form parole.
Active means supervised in the community. Active Suspense means direct supervision is temporarily unavailable because the person is in custody or another setting while the officer monitors the case. Absconder means FDC records the person as unavailable with a violation warrant. These labels should be repeated exactly and verified through the official record.
If no state supervision appears, check whether the release record names another authority. A county detainer, federal matter, or immigration transfer can follow the FDC event. The Orange County release-record search distinguishes those receiving systems and the records each one keeps.
Confirm CFRC South Release
A defensible result uses at least two matching facts: the DC number plus the status or date, then the sentence, county, case, or history. Record which FDC search produced the information and when it was checked. That helps explain a later update without suggesting that an earlier projection was a promise.
Use precise outcome language. “Transferred from CFRC South to another FDC institution” means state prison custody continued. “Current Release Date” means FDC displayed a scheduled date. “Released from FDC” means the release search showed a completed date. “Active on community supervision” means the supervision database records an ongoing state status.
The same care applies to a no-result. It does not prove unrestricted community release. Check aliases, identifiers, all relevant FDC databases, and the public-record route. If another agency received the person, continue with that agency's official locator or record instead of ending the search at South Unit.
